Make teaching science through language arts a "breeze" as the wacky weather that drives us crazy becomes the focus for this highly motivating and practical unit. Major topics include: Weather, Sun, Wind, Clouds, Rain, Snow, Hail, Sleet, Lightning, and Thunder. Every day, a new type of weather is the topic of interest to keep students motivated. Every day there is a brainstorming activity, a study of new vocabulary, a spelling activity, work in the activity book, work in the writing book, a concentration game and a parent (homework) page. The "Weather Activity Book" contains a short photograph about each topic and a variety of related comprehension questions, which students will answer.

Hurricanes, Typhoons, Cyclones, Tornadoes, Water Spouts, Droughts, Dust-storms and Sandstorms provide the basis for one interesting mix of science and language arts. Instructions for the teacher are given for each day, as well as lessons outlining possible strategies for teaching each activity in the unit. A host of activities are included, such as spelling lists (that match their spelling ability), word reinforcement puzzles, concentration game, crosswords, word searches and even a short test on the unit.

Weather Instruments: Rain Gauges, Barometers, Humidity and Thermometers, is a two-week language arts unit intended for use with Grade Two/Three children. It can be used to strengthen the children's reading and writing skills. Throughout this unit, children are involved in activities that focus their attention on language and how it is used. They brainstorm, use jot notes, write paragraphs, look up definitions in the dictionary, answer questions in complete sentences, and complete cloze activities. Each lesson includes a spelling activity, a brainstorming activity, writing a paragraph, looking up words in the dictionary, answering questions in complete sentences, completing a cloze activity, playing a weather instruments word game, and a parent page.
